Unit 8

Throughout this unit we filled out multiple different papers  and acquired the skills of writing a personal statement, finding out how to fill out a CV, how to make ourselves look more attractive and how to entice employers into hiring you. 

This has extended our knowledge for later life and has made it a lot easier for the future when I want to go and find a job. 

We learnt valuable lessons such as how to articulate ourselves to an employer.  

I learnt what my abilities are and how I can exploit them so they work in my favour. 

I was asked where I saw myself in a year and my answer was that I could see myself progressing onto another course and becoming more employable. Part of making myself more employable were the head shots taken of me by the photography department.  They took me into a classroom and had me stand in a certain position, whilst a lot of light was beaming down on me and the photographer used a flash. It was developed in black and white to look like a head shot which is required when you go into the acting world.

In class we also did a performance log where we identified the intention of the play Ubu Roi and we discussed how the play was going to go. We used this as prompt for this blog. We did the performance log regularly and actively discussed the different scenes and situations.

Throughout this unit rehearsals got in the way of the lessons so just enough time was spent on it. Sadly, these lessons had to be cut short but I did learn a lot throughout the few lessons I had.

I have focused on becoming employable in the tech and lighting side of the performing arts course. My college is very good at giving purpose to work and having different strategies to produce the most work to improve work rate and make people more employable.
