Unit 1- 2 Identity

Unit 1&2 Introductory units. The teaching tasks for these units were split up - Becca was production based tasks,  Rob's lessons involved sitting in a circle getting to know one and other and preparing us for the Identity unit. "Identity" Rehearsals In this lesson we played a game where we could only use doing words and then connectives to create a story about the activities we did. Later, we proceeded to do a piece where we had to create a scene using improv and a stimulus about outer space to show the audience that we can use the space around us to convince them that we were in outer space. We were working on vocal projection and confidence using range to enhance our performance. The range we used was a mix between comedy and seriousness to create a split screen to make sure we had variation to make it more interesting and show the use of our skills. In the beginning, I was apprehensive about performing arts because I had done GCSE Drama and had not had...

Unit 8

Unit 8 Throughout this unit we filled out multiple different papers  and acquired the skills of writing a personal statement, finding out how to fill out a CV, how to make ourselves look more attractive and how to entice employers into hiring you.  This has extended our knowledge for later life and has made it a lot easier for the future when I want to go and find a job.  We learnt valuable lessons such as how to articulate ourselves to an employer.   I learnt what my abilities are and how I can exploit them so they work in my favour.  I was asked where I saw myself in a year and my answer was that I could see myself progressing onto another course and becoming more employable. Part of making myself more employable were the head shots taken of me by the photography department.  They took me into a classroom and had me stand in a certain position, whilst a lot of light was beaming down on me and the photographer used a flash. It was developed...

Unit 9

Unit 9 Context In today's class we watched an Irish company's version of Ubu which gave us an idea of how we are going to execute the performance in the future. We began by watching it in segments and watched how the actors moved around the stage and used the state space accordingly. I thought it was a very good interpretation and it highlighted heavily at the fact that it was a satirical piece of drama which appealed to me as I am a big fan of comedic drama such as mime. However, it did come across very eccentric which I found to be an interesting take on things. Afterwards we were assigned roles and I got the part of Dogpile who was a very malleable character with a lot of different attributes and perspectives which made it a an impeccable character to work with the way that I could easily manipulate the character to suit my abilities and make it interesting when it came to be executing my performance on stage. Ubu Roi Due to what I have previously learnt rea...

Unit 5/6/7

Unit 5 Shenagh The title of Unit 5 is “Immigration” research for the container This was to show us how migrants came to Britain. We started off this unit on a low point as in our class we there was a student who had come to the country in the back of a truck.   We were going to create a devised piece but due to the circumstances it was hard for him to attend lessons.   I personally asked at the beginning for us to move onto a scripted piece as I saw the impact that recapping the story was having on him.   I was overjoyed when we had scripted work because it felt more morally correct. We decided as a class that scripted work was the best choice. The script was picked by our director.     It is The Container , it tells the story of five migrants – two Afghans, two Somalis and a Turkish Kurd – who are crossing Europe, accompanied by a Turkish trafficker and an unseen lorry driver. Their hoped-for destination is the UK, land of dreams.  B...

Unit 4

Unit 4 - Clash of the Concerts The reason it was called the clash of the concerts was because it was competition between groups of three. Context In this unit we have undertaken the task of marketing where we had to create a poster to show both our creative ability and marketing ability throughout the process of creating the poster. We had to bring in all aspects, such as who the artist is, which dictated the way the poster was created and looked. I did a poster on 6ix9ine, who is known for being very colourful.  Therefore, my poster involved a lot of very vivid bright colours to attract the attention of the person who is reading the poster.  I put the dates of the event into black so it didn't get lost in the colour.  The upcoming task is that we have to create a box replica of a stage to show the setting the artist would perform in due to their genre. We started off by being put into groups orchestrated by Becca  The groups were peopl...

Unit 3 - Dumb waiter and Silent movie

Context The Dumb Waiter was first presented at the Hampstead Theatre Club on 21 January 1960. It transferred to the Royal Court Theatre on 8 March 1960, with the same cast and produced for television by the BBC on 23 July 1985. It is a one-act comedy drama play by Harold Pinter written in 1957. "The Dumb Waiter is Pinter distilled – the very essence of a writer who tapped into our desire to seek out meaning, confront injustice and assert our individuality.” This well-known play by playright Harold Pinter it is set in a safe house.  The scene starts in a basement room:  two beds flat against the back wall, a serving hatch- closed- between the beds, a door to the kitchen and lavatory to the left and a door to a passage on the right. This project involved the other creative departments and I assisted the creative media department.  The production was recorded. The silent movie that was performed by me and Altin was based on the Dumb Waiter.   As I...
